A thick mist covered the forest, making even the greenest tree look gray. The sun wasn't even able to peak through the fog; making the forest even more darker.
Breathing in the crisp wind, a female teenager, at about the age of fourteen, slowly walked with a limp through the mist. Everything was quiet, except for the soft crunch as the girl stepped onto dead leaves. "It's so quiet," she whispered; her voice slightly hoarse as if she hadn't talked in awhile. "So peaceful..." she sighed, her voice echoing off of the trees. Her turquoise-blue eyes shifted gaze from one misty area to the next; and her arms were out, feeling for anything that she could run in too. She was unable to see well in this mist, and she didn't want to risk falling again; she was already injured, and she wasn't sure how long it would be before her leg would heal. Blowing her hair out of her face, the girl continued on. Even through the fog, her hair was visible; especially the two, thick, dark-brown strands that hung in her face, compared to her light brown-golden hair, which dropped to about her elbows. Actually, her entire body seemed to be able to glow through the mist. Maybe, it was because of her rare element, 'light', or maybe it was just because. Along with her special element, the teen was able to heal herself, and other people. But, just simple things such as scrapes, scars, or cuts. She is working on her power, however, to be able to heal worse injuries. Her body itself heals alone on the power; such as her injured leg. Better yet, she could shift into an angel being, even more powerful...
"I will survive this," the teen murmered under her breath. "I will." she repeated, straightening up. She clenched her hand into a fist, and then held it up. A yellow glow pulsed in and out of her clutched palm; giving off light, and powering through the thick fog. Quietly, she walked along, now that she could see; a dirt path.
Running from her past. That was what she was doing. Her entire life, up until now, she had gone through horror. Her family was rich, and so when her power was discovered; her family feared that it would attract to much attention, and possibly ruin their 'famousness' and 'richness'. And so, almost always, her family locked her in her room. Almost never let out. And pratically never fed. They would say, "Now, Akira, you wouldn't want to ruin your mommy and daddy's richness, would you?" and she would say. "No, mommy..." or "No, daddy..." And so, she had no other choice but accept her loneliness in that tiny room.
Sighing, trying to erase the memory, Akira picked up her pace. She cursed under her breath as she came to a dead end. A steep and dirt hill blocked her way to wherever she was going. "I have to climb...Ugh..." she muttered, limping up the hill, and grabbing onto a few plants that grew out of it. "It would be so much easier without my injury," Akira said softly, remembering how she got the injury in the first place.
After her family finally decided to get rid of her; not wanting to deal with her power anymore, and giving her up to the scientists to expierment... Akira decided to escape. Climbing out of her three-floor house was hard, but that wasn't how she gained her injury. It was when she was on the run. The government's police were after her. Darting down the street like a cheetah after prey, Akira zigzagged around parked cars and other obstacles. She twist her leg slightly when she came into the forest. The police were still behind her, and the only thing she could do was climb a tree; which she did, and the police slipped by, not noticing Akira. It was afterward that she hurt her leg; trying to get down, she fell about six feet; landing with her leg in a small twist.
Right now, her leg was better, thanks to her healing power; but that wasn't helping her to climb this sand hill. Almost halfway up, she slipped, but grabbed onto a thick tree-root, pulling herself back to her feet, and climbing to the top. Sighing in relief, she brushed her white shirt off, which show her stomach a little. Kicking the dirt and sand off of her darkblue flare jeans, she flinched; feeling the pain in her right leg. "I can't care about that now; I have gone miles and miles, and I think I've finally reached a safe place," she said softly, to what seemed to be her bag. But, it was what was in her bag she was talking too.
"YiEp." squeaked something inside, and then a little red fox-head popped out. He climbed out of the blue bag, and leaped onto Akira's shoulder; he was Rontu, Akira's pet fox. "I am glad you came with me," she said as she stroked the fox's large, white ears before continuing on. The fox yipped in reply, and then his big, brown eyes widened as he saw what was ahead. Akira, also, was amazed at what lyed ahead. At the break of the forest, appeared to be a huge city. "Wow..." she breathed, stepping out of the edge of the woods, and onto the pavement.
She stood there for a moment; her eyes wide, until she realized she was slightly being stared at. A passerby looked at her; as if she was an alien, but a few boys winked, and then this rude lady wouldn't stopped staring.
"Well..." she muttered, remembering that her clothes were probably totally dirty; with all of the sand, dirt, leaves, and anything else she picked up. She could find some laundrymat, and possibly clean her clothes with what she had left of her parents' money she found on the table before she escaped.
Everything seemed okay in this city, although she was pratically homeless. But then again, it was all that bad. However, sometimes she saw the familiar police from her town, and easily ducked into hiding when they past. Of course, she was wanted for being different. And being different was okay with her; because being different is who she is.
